Valerie Butter Braschel, MS, BCB, is a wellness educator and biofeedback specialist. For the past twenty five years she has served in various medical settings including outpatient physical rehabilitation, pain management, medical psychology, and integrative medicine. She has developed expertise in combining mind-body methods, biofeedback training, and self-care coaching to engage people in regaining control of their health. Her particular specialties are relaxation training, stress and pain management, and neuromuscular re-education.
Valerie received a master’s degree in educational psychology with an emphasis in consciousness studies from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, completing her graduate practicum in biofeedback training. She combined studies regarding traditional health psychology and teaching-learning processes, with studies of Eastern and Asian mind-body practices. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education from NIU, specializing in movement education and aquatics.
Valerie is certified by and is a senior fellow of the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America. In addition, she has been a long standing member of the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB). She has served two terms as president of the Biofeedback Society of Illinois (BSI) and received the Jack Johnson Service Award for promoting collaboration between BSI and AAPB.
